Town of Honea Path Dedicates Newly Renovated Pavilion in Honor of Patsy Martin
HONEA PATH, SC – On Saturday, July 19, 2025, the Town of Honea Path hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony and dedication for the newly renovated Patsy Martin Pavilion at the Honea Path Recreation Center & Playground, located at 2 Louisiana Street.
Mayor-Elect Jimmy Smith, members of the Honea Path Town Council, Parks and Recreation Director Tim Pace, and members of the Martin family joined community members to commemorate the life and contributions of Patsy Martin, a longtime public servant and community advocate.
Patsy Martin played a vital role in Honea Path’s Recreation Department for many years, serving as a lifeguard, swim instructor, and devoted volunteer. Her dedication left a lasting impact on the lives of countless local families. Her legacy continues through the generosity of her family, who contributed to the completion of the pavilion renovation in her honor.
“This pavilion stands as a testament to Patsy Martin’s unwavering commitment to our community,” said Mayor-Elect Jimmy Smith. “Her spirit of service lives on in this space, where families and children will gather for years to come.”
The renovation project was made possible through funding from the Parks and Recreation Development (PARD) Grant, with additional support from the Martin family and Empower Honea Path.
The newly named Patsy Martin Pavilion is part of the town’s ongoing efforts to invest in public spaces that foster recreation, connection, and community pride.
