Town of Honea Path Welcomes Newly Elected and Re-Elected Council Members; Honors Outgoing Leaders
November 10, 2025 – Honea Path, South Carolina

The Town of Honea Path held its November Town Council meeting on Monday evening, marking an important night for local leadership and civic service.

During the meeting, the Honea Path Election Commission officially certified the results of the recent municipal election. Following certification, two newly elected and one re-elected Council member were sworn into office to represent their respective wards:

• Ward 1: Earle Ashley — re-elected

• Ward 3: Jason Peterson — newly elected

• Ward 5: Molly Fisher — newly elected

The Town extends its congratulations to each of these leaders as they begin their new terms, continuing Honea Path’s strong tradition of community-focused service.

In addition, Mr. Jim Taylor was re-elected to serve as Mayor Pro Tempore for the sixth consecutive year, recognizing his steady leadership and commitment to guiding the Council in its work on behalf of the citizens.

Mayor Dr. Jimmy “Doc” Smith and the Council also expressed their appreciation to Jean Perrett (Ward 3) and Dot Evans (Ward 5) for their years of faithful service to the Town of Honea Path. Both leaders have been instrumental in advancing community projects, supporting local initiatives, and representing their constituents with integrity.

“We’re thankful for the time, dedication, and care that Jean and Dot have given to the people of Honea Path,” said Mayor Smith. “Their leadership has helped move our town forward, and we are excited to welcome our new and returning members as we continue to build on that progress.”

The Town also extends a special thank-you to Boy Scout Boone Hanks for leading the Pledge of Allegiance, and to Pastor Ricky Knight for offering the opening prayer at the meeting.

The Town of Honea Path remains proud of its dedicated public servants — past and present — who exemplify the spirit of community in our “Little Town with a Big Heart.”
