HONEA PATH, S.C. — May 7, 2026 — The Town of Honea Path joined The Commercial Bank and SHAZAM tonight for “The Fraudsters Toolbox: Protecting Yourself,” a community seminar focused on fraud prevention, identity theft awareness, and protecting personal financial information.

The event provided residents with valuable information about current scams targeting individuals and families, along with practical steps to recognize fraudulent activity and safeguard personal and financial data.

Mayor Jimmy Smith welcomed attendees and thanked community partners for their commitment to public education and safety. Patrick Dix with SHAZAM served as the featured speaker, sharing expert insights and real-world examples of today’s most common fraud tactics.

“The Town of Honea Path is proud to partner with organizations that help keep our community informed, educated, and safe,” Mayor Smith said.

The Commercial Bank also emphasized the importance of community education and fraud awareness.

“The Commercial Bank was proud to partner with the Town of Ware Shoals and the Town of Honea Path to host ‘The Fraudster’s Toolbox: Protecting Yourself,’ presented by Patrick Dix with SHAZAM,” said C. Nakia Davis, President/CEO of The Commercial Bank. “Educating the communities we serve about the many scams and fraud attempts happening every day is extremely important to us. If sharing this information helps protect even one person from becoming a victim, we believe the effort was well worth it.”

Community leaders and representatives attending the event included Patrick Dix with SHAZAM, Board Member Malette Langston, The Commercial Bank President/CEO Nakia Davis, House of Representatives member Craig Gagnon, and Honea Path Mayor Jimmy Smith.

The Town of Honea Path appreciates everyone who attended and supported this important community conversation on fraud awareness and financial security.
