Water Rate Adjustment Approved for Fiscal Year 2026–2027
The Town of Honea Path Council has approved a water rate adjustment for Fiscal Year 2026–2027. This decision was made after careful consideration of rising operational costs and the need to continue providing safe, reliable water service to our residents and businesses.
The adjustment is necessary due to increased rates charged by the water provider from which the Town purchases water. In addition, the Town has experienced significant increases in the cost of materials, equipment, and supplies required to maintain and improve our water and sewer infrastructure. These rising expenses affect the Town’s ability to provide quality utility services while maintaining the system’s long-term reliability.
The approved increase is $0.96 per 1,000 gallons of water consumed. For the average residential customer, this adjustment is expected to result in an increase of less than $4.00 per month on their utility bill.
Importantly, there will be no increase in sewer rates for Fiscal Year 2026–2027.
Town Council and staff understand the financial impact that rate adjustments can have on customers and have worked diligently to keep rates as stable as possible for as long as possible. The approved increase reflects the Town’s commitment to balancing affordability with the responsibility of maintaining critical infrastructure and ensuring dependable service for the community.
The Town of Honea Path remains dedicated to providing high-quality utility services and investing in the infrastructure necessary to support current and future needs.
Residents with questions regarding the water rate adjustment are encouraged to contact Town Hall for additional information.
We appreciate the community’s understanding and continued support as we work to provide reliable and efficient services to all customers.
